Dune is originally a novel written in 1965 by Frank Herbert, which has become the best-selling science fiction novel in the world. In 1975, Alejandro Jodorowsky, La Caste des Méta-Barons, and producer Michel Seydoux decided to create a film adaptation of Herbert's novel.

The filmmaker surrounded himself with the greatest artists of the time: Moebius alias, H. Giger (Alien) for the sets and costumes / Pink Floyd, Tangerine Dream, and Magma for the soundtrack / Mick Jagger, Orson Welles, and David Carradine were already planned for the cast! Unfortunately, to realize this cinematic UFO, Jodorowsky needed 5 to 10 million dollars in addition to the initial budget. He then drew a storyboard (more like an Artbook) of over 3000 drawings to go on a "tour" of studios and producers...

The film would never find its funding... A few years later, in 1984, it was ultimately David Lynch who would direct Dune (with no connection, aside from the story, to the original project).

More than 40 years after this cinematic adventure, here is a superb documentary, directed by Frank Pavich, that recounts the story of this cursed film. A small collector's edition for this acclaimed documentary worldwide... The original storyboard is now kept by the widow of Jean Giraud, who does not seem willing to publish it... It has been postponed for judicial reasons regarding this famous storyboard..
